These pieces are an exploration of a "living light" that exists within the shadows.  By stripping away pictoric form, the focus shifts entirely to the emotional weight of color.  The ambers, reds and burning orange serves as a pulse, a beacon, colliding with dark, structural shadows of charcoal, purples and blues that provide a sense of gravity and weariness.  These works seek to portray sensations that are both internal and primordial. They challenge the viewer to look past the surface and into the layers of "visual noise" mimicking the way the eye adjusts to low light - a study of presence.  The use of opaque black fields act as a grounding force, suggests a physical or psychological architecture that contains the vibrant, nebulous activity within. These dark thresholds provide a necessary silence that amplify complexity of the internal textures.

The compositions rely on a deliberate interplay of transparency and opacity. Through the use of scraping and layering, the surface reveals a history of movement—scars and veils that suggest a state of constant transformation, a tactile quality that mirrors chaotic beauty and destructive force. These pieces invite the viewer to focus on the echoes found in the tension of shadows; a psychological space of enduring strength and vulnerability where the boundaries begin to dissolve. Glowing colours serve as a symbolic light source, cutting through atmospheric density and providing a moment of clarity within the abstractions. By utilizing a dense, multi-layered application of pigment, my work investigates the emergence of light.  It is also a study of the "aftermath", evocative of the glowing embers of a fire or the weathered patina of emotional decay - the paintings become a study of memory and atmosphere, where boundaries blur.
